When things look like they are at their worst and your life is at a crossroad, make sure that you realize that not only will you get over it (it’s temporary), but you will also have the rest of your life ahead of you. Stop, look, and walk around the problem. When an athlete runs, he may jump hurdles. Those hurdles are challenges that you must deal with to win the race. The same goes with life.
Some people may have friction between them. I know I have had my share with certain people over the years. However, the obstacles that come between you and them are healable and things are always changeable. Now, there are certain situations in which if you do not maintain self-control, and you go off shooting your mouth in hatred, you can damage a healable relationship and resentment will always linger.
When I went to California, I donated a small amount of money to the Salvation Army. They gave me a magazine, and when I went back to the hotel with my friends, I read it.
There was a point that stood out. It said that “God closes a door and opens another.”
Those words of wisdom rings in my head every time things look at their worst. If I went to work tomorrow and found out that I do not have a job anymore, then the stature of limitations at that job has expired and that it’s time to move on.
Let me share a story about a friend of mine.
This friend I am referring to is the boyfriend of my oldest friend’s sister (Are you still with me (lol)? He lived with my oldest friend's family for two years. Then suddenly, he was kicked out by them, because he was paying them back with services instead of cash. He lived in his car mostly for the summer. I went with him to fill out a job application for a large retailer. He got the job, and he works a lot of hours now. He just recently moved into an apartment (ironically, it is the EXACT SAME apartment that my Grampa lived in from 1992-1999). It is a nice apartment, and this friend of mine has high hopes now. He is determined to have a decent family life with his girlfriend and her son. The point in me sharing this is that if he wasn’t kicked out (if things didn’t get dark) to start with, then he wouldn’t have had his nice apartment and job (then the dawn wouldn’t have risen the next day). Whenever you feel that you are secure in the system you live by and depend on, a disruption of that system, a "shaking" of that system, or a complete removal of that system will create a major challenge for any person that depended on that system. With uncertainty looming, things will look their worst. However, in the grand scheme of things, everything has their appointed timeframe, and even though we may not be aware of what to expect next, after we have adapted to the next chapter that is written for our lives, we will then have the chance to look back on the situation and be able to see our past reactions in a far different manner than when we were going through them. God has a plan for everyone, and when he is involved in a person's life, when called to re-examine the situation in retrospect, the situation will boldly reveal how His hand was involved in the matter.
