Yesterday, I visited my first tea party gathering. This gathering was in the state of Illinois, in a nice banquet hall, and revolved mostly around local issues, but there was passion, and the most passion was lodged towards American conservative values.
I was very encouraged to see the turnout there. The parking lot was so packed that people parked along side the various curbs that serve as “ends” to each row. People are really fed up, and they have every right to be. It was interesting that some of the people speaking at this event were talking about how events like these were long overdue and how in the past political gatherings were always dull. It reminded me of a valuable point a friend at work told me last year. He said that the reason why these shady politicians keep getting away with so much is because people are not getting involved. They go home, sit on the couch and watch their big screen TV’s, but do not focus on the things that should really matter to them. When people do not show up at their town hall meetings, then who is there to say to these politicians, “No, you can’t have this.” He was right. Now that the consequences of what he talked about last year are coming up to bite them in the you-know-what, they are slowly by surely waking up to the irritation inflicted by such unmonitored misbehavior inflicted by those whose jobs are to represent us, not use us as pawns to furnish their personal wants and desires.

It was very interesting. I saw young people at the TEA party meeting that had shirts on that said, “I am de-sheepitized. Sheep no Longer.” There is a movement behind this shirt campaign and it is located here if you want to look into it for yourself.

Event a Wake-Up Call:
I believe that we are in the mess we’re in because we lost our fundamental foundations for a free society. In 2003 George W. Bush said it best when he said, “the liberty we prize is not America’s gift to the world. It is God’s gift to humanity.” He caught a lot of heat from that statement from those who have the mindset of a statist. A statist is all about empowering the state, not the individual. The statist is always at war with the individual because the statist desires to possess the generated income, existing wealth, and property of the individual so that he can control the individual and use him as his servant. This is rooted in selfishness, contempt, and hatred as it all leads to coveting and pursuing what is being coveted. This pursuit leads to stealing, but is protected by legal technicalities, all in the name of looking out for you.
I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.
