Well, it is almost hard to believe that it has been three years since the Making Sense Message Board began. As we commemorate our third anniversary together, I want to share with you a little bit of the History behind this website, as well as my goals for the fourth year.
In the Beginning……
In 2001 I signed up with www.sitcomsonline.com. It is a website dedicated to sitcoms. In so doing, I got involved in their message boards. During that time, my interests for politics, Bible prophecy, and other issues were at their earlier developments, and I was learning. At sitcomsonline.com there was a special forum for “Chit Chat.” This special forum was open to pretty much anything. As my interest for Bible Prophecy continued, I thought to myself, “What if I posted my findings on that website?” and so in 2002, I did. The response was tremendous. There were many cons, as well as some pros. An all out debate began, and it was interesting.
As the debates progressed, so did the need to learn. As I was vigorously debating, there was more that I wanted to know. There was a need to get my hands on resources and do deep research since I came to the realization that what we are told by the media, and how they tell it might be in fact, tipped too much in the favor of one side.
Through it all, I learned a heck of a lot. I sought debate, and craved it especially since I wanted to put my own beliefs to the fire. If what I knew was wrong, I wanted to know. If
Someone else was wrong; I wanted to make sure the individual who debated me was informed of their error so as not to appear foolish out there in the real world. It’s all about informing the public so that things can be made better for you and me, not self-serving politicians, religious leaders, or any other organized function.
As my services on sitcomsonline continued, Things were looking better and better. Before I knew it, there was a parade of people who finally acquired the guts to contribute.
By 2003, I got e-mails and vast amounts of encouragement from people I’ve never met. They encouraged me to not only say what was on my mind, but encouraged me to go further and go deeper into matters, as well as get bolder.
Here are a couple of examples.....

RWCTV:
I just wanted to send you a note to let you know how much I enjoy the narratives that you've been posting on these boards. It's obvious to me that your positions are well thought out, and that you take the time to thoroughly research the issues that are being discussed here.
Unfortunately, that does not seem to be the case with many of the others around here. People like Kittflynn, Max, and a few of the others talk a good game - until someone like yourself has the nerve to disagree with them. They then resort to sarcasm and name calling, as you well know.
For a long time, I felt as though I was about the only person around here that was challenging the far left, political correctness crowd on the "Chit Chat" boards. I see you as a "Comarade in arms", and hope that you regard me in the same way.
I really haven't had much to say on the anti-war threads this week, because frankly, yourself, Fleet, and some of the others have been doing a pretty good job of tearing the anti-Bush, pro-Saddam people around here to shreds. I really haven't come up with much to add - you guys have covered it all!
Keep up the good work!
Best Regards,
Jimbo

Rob,
Greetings! Thanks for the pm. It's nice to see some other Christians on secular websites standing for Truth!

Others e-mailed me as well, and I might very well share those with you at some point in the future (perhaps at the 5th Anniversary).
In 2004, a disaster occurred. While anticipating my next debate, I was informed that the politics thread in the Chit Chat forum was shut down due to a fight between a liberal and a conservative. The liberal members of the site were getting bolder and bolder in their contempt for the conservatives, and resorted to heavy name-calling. TJ, the website’s administrator decided to shut down the forum completely. In so doing, I and many others were silenced. I was angry. What made me angry was the fact that I always kept my conversations civil, and irregardless of the fact that I did not commit the “crime” I was being punished as I was restricted from doing the things I wanted to do. I was angry because on account of other people’s irresponsible actions, the words of the responsible were also stifled to be “fair.” Nothing was fair about it. It was as if TJ played right into the hands of those who didn’t want certain information to be heard especially in the year of a very important presidential election. I could not sit idly by. Shortly after the shut down of the politics section, a member in the regular chit chat section opened his own message board. I thought to myself, “hey, that’s a great idea.” With memberships to many other websites, as well as e-mails and so forth, I opened my own message board.
On June 1, 2004 the Making Sense Message Board became available to the public.
Why the title “Making Sense”?
There is a reason why I titled my board Making Sense. In 2002, I read an article in TIME magazine that talked about a website called www.raptureready.com. I thought, “hmm, this is incredibly interesting.” I then became a member. In so doing, I wanted to acquire a name that would both gain attention and at the same time relay the message to others that people can count on for deep analysis and best of all credibility within that analysis.
In 2004, when I constructed the itinerary for this board, I just simply transferred the title. After all it works just as well, if not better as a website housing a variety of different articles on a variety of very important issues. And so, the Making Sense Message Board was officially born.
Most Popular Posts:
One thing I love looking at from time to time is the number of people who have visited certain articles. In our Politics section, the most visited post was “Mother of Fallen Soldier Exploits Son's Death,” which chronicled the progression of a fallen soldier’s mother (Cindy Sheehan) who was introduced to us by the media as a sincere and heartsick family member who was angry with the war in Iraq for taking her son, but as time went on, she revealed herself as a rabidly neurotic kook who coddled dictators, affiliated herself with anti-Americans, and went as far as calling the men who murdered her son “freedom fighters.” She was and is a selfish woman who exploited her son’s death for her own financial and personal wealth. In the “Religious Discussion and Topics” area, the most popular thread has been the one entitled “Atheism or Rebellion” which makes a case at first and then turns into a deep debate with a fellow member by title of MysteriousGuestX.
Debating is the exercise of the mind. Some have disagreements with me, and that’s fine, but through it all I, as well as the person debating me, both walk away with some form of insight and understanding.
Setting Goals:
Setting goals is a must for the betterment of this website, so as we enter our fourth year, I would like to discuss with you some of our future goals.
Coming to the site in the fourth year are two brand new threads. One will be called “Useful Information” and it will contain information that is very interesting to know, but is either not communicated very well, appears briefly in a newspaper or magazine and disappears, or probably never has the time of day given to it. For example, for dog owners, did you know that you may be killing your pet and not even know it? Certain foods that humans eat may be very poisonous to pets. The other thread we will be opening up is an RWC PRODUCTIONS thread in which I will post scripts for your entertainment, as well as promote movies, radio shows, or television shows that my team and I create. The only thing that I must tell you is that some of my dramatic products stir controversy, and are not always tied in with my religious or political beliefs. When I write comedy, I want to be funny. When I write dramatically, I want the reader to feel the emotion dramatically. When I write action, I want the events in that action to be suspenseful. Either way I want to display some form of boldness in my writings. I want my style of writing to take on such a form on its own that you the reader forget that you’re reading a script and visualize it in your head. As you take in the words with your eyes, your mind acts it out on the stage that is your mind. I want you to keep coming back for more. In short, I want it to be real, or as close to real as I possibly can. So, keep your eyes peeled. Also, whenever I start a series, I plan to add further episodes of that series to the episode that was previously posted, so for postings of new episodes, you may have to scroll down, or change to page 2, 3, etc. to reach the latest posted episode.
All in all, our third year has been wonderful and we hope our fourth year will either be as wonderful or more wonderful as we expand our horizons and try out new ideas.
