I am not sympathetic to serial liars or politicians engaging in corruption. I would however like to know how Biden, who has done far worse, is not receiving any kind of the treatment that George Santos received. Sure, fraud is inexcusable, lying to congress is irresponsible, embezzling campaign money to live a lavish lifestyle is an abuse of the funds that you are entrusted by the people who gave it to you to represent them. Santos was rightfully punished. So why is Biden still at large?
I look at the sort of language by the prosecutors, by the feds, and by the media regarding Santos. The New York District Attorney's Office released a press statement saying, "Congressman George Santos Charged With Conspiracy, Wire Fraud, False Statements, Falsification of Records, Aggravated Identity Theft, and Credit Card Fraud". Okay. In comparison, you have Joe Biden pocketing tens of thousands of dollars from foreign enemies, concealing his identity as "the big guy", going through his son Hunter, having money wired through alternate accounts, and then some. Joe Biden is so far gone compromised in so many, more serious ways (since Biden's dealings are prone to become national security threats), but nothing happens to him. But it's not just the government going way out of their way to avoid hitting him with any charges. I listen to Democrats and one that I know asked another one, "How can their party be so stupid to put him in there? Don't they ask questions before they put people like that in there?" My question boomerangs back to Biden. I would like to know the same thing about Biden. Santos betrayed his supporters' trust for sure, however Biden betrays the entire country's trust, by being for sale to nations (like China) who he's accepting money from, as leader of the free world failing to hold those nations accountable for their actions (like when they caught the Chinese spy balloon hovering over our country), and that failure is causing a weakness that is emboldening them to do more (like China wanting to take over Taiwan and getting more vocal about their intentions to do so) that threatens freedom abroad, particularly to our allies.
At what point do we start caring about the country and principles required to uphold personal honesty, integrity, and care about the betterment of our nation, rather than cover for the ones we support and advocate getting rid of those we don't? What I'm seeing in contrast is two people caught with their hand in the cookie jar, but one with far more serious offenses that the government is going way out of its way to protect and another that they wasted no time "shooting down" because he predominantly misused campaign funds. How is that justified?
