Editor’s Note: The Making Sense Message Boards reached its 5th year anniversary on June 1st, 2009. Due to many other priorities, I pushed back the posting of this anniversary post until now. So please enjoy the celebration as we commemorate 5 years of Making Sense.
Wow, it’s hard to believe that it has been 5 years (half a decade) since the Making Sense Message Board was launched. My, how time flies! The first thing I would like to do before celebrating our 5th year together is to thank all of you. You are the drive, reason, and motivation for the existence of this site. It is also true that a free people are also a happy, healthy, and prosperous people. But freedom, as you well know, has its challenges and various threats against it. If you are a new visitor visiting the Making Sense Message Boards, then let me begin by welcoming you, and telling you a little about our board.
It all began with a quest for truth. Sure, the word truth is used so much by those who do not tell it, or are ignorant of knowing what it is, that the reality loses its meaning. My job is to restore it in the aspects of our lives that affect us most. Deception is everywhere and is overwhelming. The most deceptive are the most controlling, and the most controlling use it to exploit people’s good intentions, their compassion, and their trust, as essentially kindhearted end up not being aware that they are being used as pawns to carry out the own selfish ambitions of the engineers who persuaded the kindhearted to follow them. The communist dictator Vladimir Lenin once coined the phrase “Useful idiots” in regards to his supporters. He held contempt for them as they fell for his deceptive rhetoric, yet their support in mass quantities prompted others to “join the crowd.” This is how he was able to muster up support to a point where they gave him their trust, only to strip away their freedoms from them, until everything that they had became the property of the state, and those who cooperated lived, and those who didn’t outside of God’s protection didn’t. Of course, the order in which freedom is derived from is established by God, so faith in a loving and giving God is a vital component to individual freedom, as opposed to having faith in a power-hungry and selfish man. Having said that, politics is the arena where battles are waged to either allow you to exercise your individual freedoms, or work feverishly to confiscate your individual freedoms while trying to convince you that the opposite is taking place.
Politics:
Every person needs to either pay attention to what is going on in politics, and/or get involved in some way in politics. Up until people felt that their freedom was threatened entirely, did people engage in politics. But that was up until they felt that their freedom was threatened. In 2008, people failed to heed the warnings on what was coming to this country. Then in 2009, after all of what was said and done, people were finally called to get involved. By not getting involved in politics, you, by inaction, choosing to be ignorant, yield everything you have, your life, your liberty, and your property, to those seeking to consume everything you have. The problem with that is when you do this, you end up with less as government steps in, eats away your property and power, and becomes gluttonous in fattening itself, only looking for the next “mealtime” to take more until it finishes yours off. Once the final hand is dealt, and you are completely powerless, you are then about as useful as a chicken bone. In other words, your rights, your livelihood, and your pursuit of happiness is callously discarded since those who’ve got what they wanted, need nothing more from you any longer. Remember that. This is something I take very seriously. And it is that level of seriousness that has prompted me to do what we do in this field for over 5 years.
Faith:
God is sovereign above all things. He intervenes and participates in things when one’s heart is right with him, and steps back in allowing evil to take place when one doesn’t. Right now we are seeing that very element take place right now. God is allowing evil to succeed as a form of judgment. If people want to push him out of the way, then he will step back and let them have what they ask for. In so doing, he leaves them to the mercy of the Devil, and mercy is not by far part of the Devil’s way of doing things. The thing is, when God steps back, evil gets stronger and grows immensely, until it becomes so unbearable, that people, left to their own devices, become hopeless, thus triggering them to look for something that will bring hope to their lives, value to their souls, and peace and understanding through God’s Holy Spirit.
Entertainment:
I really like going to the movies…. That is as long as there is something worth seeing. For 5 years I have shared my opinions on movies, television shows, DVD releases, and so on. In my opinion, I think that the year 2009 has been a very weak year for movies, so there really hasn’t been much to get excited over. However, on the flip side, this is a good thing for the cash strapped wallet.
RWC Productions:
In 2009, we added the Robert W. Case Productions area. In April of 2009, our first radio show, posted on YouTube and Google Video was released, expanding our message and attracting new viewers/listeners to the website.
With all of the rest of the categories and subject matter we have done in the last 5 years, we have had assurance that what we do in one way or another, helps and empowers people. For years, I have received many compliments, words of encouragement, and thank yous from people appreciative of the information provided to them on this site. For over 5 years (even pre-existing this board) we have sparked an awareness to politics, ignited passionate debates, moved people to get involved, helped bring people to faith (only God takes it further from there on), and helped people face tomorrow via our psychology, health, and Useful Information threads.
And yet, there is more to do. 5 years is just another milestone. Whenever a milestone is reached it is always good to look back and take inventory of the progress as a way not only to reflect, but to use the magnitude of that progress as a means of motivation to move forward as our progress continues. What’s even better is working harder and sprinting to the next milestone, and so on, and so on. So, as we continue to work hard, we once again would like to to say thank you, and for your own sake, and mine, stay informed!!
