Paul Elio, owner of Elio motors has big plans—so big that he claims he can reduce US gas consumption by .5% in just five years. What makes this claim truly bold is that Elio motors has not yet produced a single car. Its first prototype is still being built. When finished the still unnamed car will average 84 miles per gallon and will cost approximately $6,800. But Elio’s most innovative idea is how customers will pay for the car. Each month, drivers will use the credit card they received when they buy the car to pay for gas. Elio motors triples the amount spent each month on gas and applies two-thirds of that cost to the monthly car payment.
