It is by far the most popular movie of the summer. Leonardo Di Caprio plays Dom Cobb, a man with a very special ability to enter the mind through one’s dreams, and extract secrets from them while they most vulnerable within those dreams. In that, his know-how to extract secrets from the mind wins attention from corporate types who seek to use it to eradicate the competition. At the same time, Cobb’s ability to use this ability has also made him a global fugitive, while causing him to lose everything so dear to his heart. Cobb is then given a job. This job requires that he plant an idea in a big shot’s head, rather than extract an idea from it. In that, if this strategy becomes a success, then there is a chance that he could re-take at least some of what has been lost. Meanwhile, while Cobb attempts to perform this inception, an adversary who has caught on to Cobb’s idea-stealing scheme, seems to have the know-how needed to interfere and stop this inception from taking place.
This movie was very good. It was one of those psychological, sci-fi thrillers that requires your full attention. I mean, even the simple act of looking down into your popcorn bag can cause you to miss a vital component in this story. The only downside to this movie is that it is very easy to get confused. This is a movie that, once on DVD/Blu-Ray, would be easier to watch since you have a better chance to go back, or watch it over and over again in order to get the full story. Other than that, the movie was well thought out, well done, and cleverly put together. Either way you slice and dice it, it is a movie that is unpredictable, and makes you think, and movies like that get my signature.
Out of 4 stars, I give Inception 4 stars.
The film is rated PG-13, and runs 2 hours and 28 minutes.
