A few weeks ago, when I was at work, I was stopped by a customer and asked if the company I work for gave senior citizens discounts. When I went to the front to go check, I gave the answer to the woman, and her and I engaged in a conversation.
The woman who is in her 70's was taking care of her mother who is in her 90's. The woman was in a wheelchair, because her arteries were so clogged in her legs that she could barely walk. The woman's appearance stunned me because she was thin for one thing, and she looked active. I was in a daze when her daughter told me that the woman was in her 90's.
When talking to the daughter, she had a lot of interesting things to say. She said that her doctor will not touch her because of her age. Now, I ask you. Is that right? Sure, on one side the doctor might not touch her because she is so old and on her way out soon anyway. Or perhaps, the doctor does not want to touch her, because if he does, and she dies, then he would have the FEAR of a possibility that he might get sued.
Thanks to lawyers, and their frivolous lawsuits, this country's doctors have to decide on life or death based on the fear of getting sued or not.
When the customer told me about the lady's condition, I remembered that my Dad and mom were taking a drug that was supposed to unclog all your arteries. I told the customer to wait while I called my parents to ask for the name of the drug. The drug is called Res-Q.
It turns out that the drug was taken by the late Eddie Albert for nearly 30 years. That is what most-likely contributed to his living to 99 years of age.
When I gave the lady the name and the phone number, she talked about how her pastor was suffering from a stroke, with blood dripping from his eyes. The doctor couldn't do much.
I shared with her a story about a friend of mine's deceased mother. She was told that she was going to have her hip replaced (since it was so worn out from her large weight), and issues came up. For a few years, she had excrutiating pain, until she died late last year.
When I told the lady at work the story, she told me that "you have to be your own doctor now a days."
In a way, she's right.
Doctors today are either ignorant or greedy. Doctors can only tell you what the charts tell them. Doctors have the power to prescribe medicines that will help ease the pain, but will not dig out the root of the pain. This method is to make more money with more visits to write more prescriptions. Then there are the fearful doctors who have a high anxiety over frivolous lawsuits. Then, there are those doctors who are morally and ethically sound, and who will work to ease your pain, not drag it out.
If you are have a doctor that actually cares, then you are blessed.
Food and Drug Administration Conspiracy:
One thing that has puzzled me within this year is the fact that the Food and Drug Administration is one in the same. The FDA can approve newer, tempting foods that can cause harmful effects later on. Then, when the effects take affect, then the drug companies make big money trying to assist you in "undoing" the damage.
I think what it all boils down to is personal responsibility. In this day and age, personal responsibility is one of thee most important things you will need to have to combat temptation and doctors. When that lady said that you have to be your own doctor, the words of wisdom rang so loud, that it made me question many of my own eating habits.
