If you read my articles periodically, you will find that I have been opposed to the government runned health care bill from the start. My reasons have always been rooted in substance. At this moment, most Americans are feeling sick right now, and on the flip side, some people are feeling pretty good now. But will the moment’s feelings carry on for years to come?
This bill was just another indicator that showed us where our current elected official’s loyalties lie. They are not for you, they are for themselves, and even if many of these people lose re-election in 2010, they will continue to be well taken care of for the rest of their lives, as they will always have plenty of money and a nice plush pension to fall back on. This vote is a political vote for the party down the road, because as this system works itself in, Democrat candidates will end up being funded by the taxpayer (yes, you’ve read right) as this bill exponentially incorporates its lobbyists into tampering with our health.
For those sick about the bill, I understand. I am with you. I was so opposed to this bill because I know the motives behind it and where it will lead. It happens every single time it’s tried, and it never fails. My opposition begins on moral grounds. I hate the idea of rationing care for the purpose of saving money. As opposed to taking care of people, some doctors will have no choice but to make decisions on financial grounds rather than moral grounds. This happens everywhere it is tried, and with the diminishing influence of morality and values in the culture and society, the opposite (stone cold selfishness and meaninglessness) only increases its influence. In many cases, some doctors will have to make a choice. They will either have to choose to do all they can do on moral grounds, on that person’s behalf (which they are not obligated to do, and will cost them from their pockets), or choose self interest, where the process will be a little easier for them to deal with, and protect themselves. Another thing I abhor in this bill is all the corruption connected to it.
For those who may have cheered this bill on, I have something to ask you. How will this bill benefit you, your family, and your loved ones? How will you benefit? Even though you may have voted for these people, and express your loyalty on their behalf, I ask you, how will you personally benefit? You are not their friends. Even if you made the slightest attempt to see them, you would be brushed aside by a secret service agent. You do not share in their innumerous wealth, and you are not one of them, and have nothing in common with them. When you see your parents, grandparents or loved ones suffer (or worse) because they were put on a long waiting list, or were neglected in the hospital, will it have been worth the actions this moment awarded you due to your loyalty to one party, president, Congressperson? Will you be surprised if you lose a friend or loved one that you have cared for, for many years? This is a very serious thing to think about.
This bill was built on outright lies, deception, secrecy, division, scheming, bribery, maneuvering, corruption through backroom deals, threats, name-calling, intimidation, and finally force. All 219 votes were Democrat, while there were 34 Democrats and 178 Republicans who voted no. To the 34 Democrats who voted no, that took guts, even if they did vote no for the sole purpose of getting re-elected in the fall.
The next step: Preparing for the 2010 Mid-Terms
If you are disappointed with the passage of this bill, you can check to see who voted for it and who voted against it. Remember their names and judge whether or not they should be punished with their firing, or rewarded with another term.
