Do you remember that song “The Greatest Love of All” sung by Whitney Houston? It started out with the lyrics, “I believe the children are our future. Teach them well and let them lead the way.” That song was released in April of 1986, and if there was ever a time to apply that to the youth of that day, that was the time. In his farewell address to the nation, President Ronald Reagan made this statement.
Younger parents aren't sure that an unambivalent appreciation of America is the right thing to teach modern children. And as for those who create the popular culture, well grounded patriotism is no longer the style. Our spirit is back, but we haven't re institutionalized it. We've got to do a better job of getting across that America is freedom freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of enterprise. And freedom is special and rare. It's fragile; it needs [protection].
Those kids he talked about back then are all grown up now. They are all men and women in their 20’s. But what does it mean to them to be an American today? Do they even have what it takes to carry the country forward, or will a free society end with them because of their lack of knowledge and lack of spiritual, moral and ethical stability? We are going to take some time to identify the problem, realize the solution, and relay the message so that we can at least raise awareness that the Government is taking advantage of them in their current state of mind only to make them willful servants of the Federal Government without realizing that the Government just took over and stole a lot of their rights.
I strongly believe that the Government takes advantage of young people. They hand them a ticking time bomb, and tell them it is a sparkler. And why wouldn’t they think it’s a sparkler? If they are led to believe that government’s job is to do everything for them, look out for them, and take care of them, then they will most likely trust that person, especially if that person made them feel good. I think there are serious concerns relating to young people today. I think that too many young people dwell too much on stupid things. Too many young people dwell too much on what others think of them, and as a result, they join the crowd. All too often, too many young people seem to lack the components needed to think for themselves. For example, if the media hates somebody that might be actually good for liberty and good for the country, young people will most likely think they are bad because they hear so much negativity about that person from the news media. Bottom line; young people, for the most part, are easily propagated. Adding to that, young people are for the most part not religious (and that of course, is their prerogative but their rejection is based on misleading or deceptive information that diverts attention away from the down to earth reality behind it) and it is conveniently within the restraints of Christianity that Liberty is formed. Another problem I notice all too much with young people is that they are too focused on leisure and that makes them often idle and lazy. Now, don’t get me wrong. I like young people on a personal basis. But the things I just mentioned seem all too true and all too frequent whenever I come in contact with them, and that deeply concerns me. When you have to take care of an older person because of Alzheimer’s, that’s one thing. But when you have a young person who is nearly as dependent on responsible people as an older person is with Alzheimer’s, then I ask, where is the country headed?
Now here are some good things about young people. Young people in many instances have good intentions and in many cases carry strong levels of compassion. They are, by my observation, very laid back, easy going, and do not always hold grudges against someone if someone else has wronged them. They are the type that helps somebody out when somebody may be short on cash, or in many instances, they help them out on a problem, and they give of themselves when somebody needs something from them.
Now, there is a reason why I mentioned these characteristics about young people both good and bad, and I will get to it as this article progresses. Keep in mind all that I told you, both good and bad.
On October 24, 2009 I went to the eye doctor for an exam. It was my first time trying this new eye doctor, and judging on first impression, I really liked him. Him and I were discussing politics, and whenever I discuss politics with someone in the medical profession, things get extremely interesting. I always get a wealth of information from those who actually work in the field. He told me that if this health care plan that Congress and the president are trying to pass goes through, he said, “your generation is going to pay dearly for it.” He said, “They are really screwing you younger people over big time.” I told him, “Yeah, I know.” I then told him that I do read up on this type of stuff, follow politics, and that I have a message board on the internet where I write articles about all of this type of stuff. Now there is a reason why I am mentioning this to you and I will get to that in a moment.
Adding to that, last week I was watching Glenn Beck’s program. He had a bunch of doctors on his show of which he asked them some very good questions. By the time the program ended, you heard why those who reject the nationalized health care plan reject it, and why those who support it support it. You had a well rounded information fest that dealt with actual information that will affect you and me, so that we could decide on substance. I would like to know what the doctors think because they are the ones that actually work on us. If they are getting nothing from the government, or if government is watching over their shoulders and telling them to reduce the amount of tests and resources to determine a patient’s condition, then they are legally bound to oblige to the federal government, even if that costs you your very own life. That is the truth, as cold as I said it. Now, as the Glenn Beck program opened, he asked the doctors which plan they favored. It was interesting because all of those who supported the Democrats socialized health care plan were all young people. They were med students. All, if not most of the doctors who rejected it were older and more experienced in their profession. That alone tells me a lot. That tells me that they are propagating the young doctors by exploiting their compassionate traits and using their ignorance into tricking them into adopting a system that will end up screwing them over in the end. In other words, if they do not realize what their older and more experienced predecessors have first hand at this moment, then they will not miss anything if all is taken away from them when the bill is passed and the young doctors enter the field. They will start out with what the government starts them out with, and will not miss anything since it will be taken from them before they enter their practice. In other words, they will walk into a new order of things that will eradicate the old order of things. That gives the government enough room to screw over young doctors by not allowing the old order of things to remain in existence. This will be done so that everybody is on the same mediocre level under the direction (or dictation) of the government. The older and more experienced doctors are bracing themselves as they are preparing to be screwed over by the government because they will end up with less to work with and more bureaucratic headaches to deal with. My eye doctor reiterated this point when he told me that the government wants to sell you something that will take everything from you, give very little to you, and control your life.
Ronald Reagan, once said that, “Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again.” ~ (Ronald Reagan, from his first inaugural speech as governor of California, January 5, 1967)
Folks, this is exactly what is happening now. If you take the opposite of this point, then you would have this misleading mindset; “Freedom will always be around, so just sit back, relax, and enjoy life. Don’t worry yourself over nothing. You won’t lose anything as long as you trust in us.” Unfortunately, the reality of the matter translates otherwise. When something is taken from you, it is never given back to you. This also leads me to a wise point Thomas Jefferson once made, which states, “A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have.”
Now, take all of what I said previously about young people, both the good and the bad, and keep it in the back of your mind. Now, think of what virtue is. Virtue, according to Noah Webster’s original uncut, 1828 dictionary defines it as….
The practice of moral duties from sincere love to God and his laws, is virtue and religion….Virtue is nothing but voluntary obedience to truth. For the full, unabridged version, visit….

Then couple that with a very wise statement that founding father Samuel Adams once made.
“For no People will tamely surrender their Liberties, nor can any be easily subdued, when Knowledge is diffused and Virtue is preserved. On the Contrary, when People are universally ignorant, and debauched in their Manners, they will sink under their own Weight without the Aid of foreign Invaders.”
Samuel Adams, November 4, 1775
Young people in too many areas are being taught nothing. Too many cannot add or subtract, multiply and divide. They know nothing of our founding fathers, nothing about the Constitution, or nothing about the conditions which led to the writing of the Declaration of Independence. This truth alone reminds me of the quote, “Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it.” When Samuel Adams said that when knowledge is diffused and virtue is preserved, that meant that liberty requires that everyone should know their history, and have a deep respect for the one who gave us liberty. Yet in America today, too many are unaware of this nation’s founding history, principles, and their own civic duty to preserve them. Since too many people in this country are double-minded, virtue cannot exist. It is all too commonly perceived that every good has its evil, and every evil has its good. This causes idleness and lack of taking an initiative to do anything about any problem prevents a person from doing the right thing. This in and of itself is a danger to this country.
"A general dissolution of the principles and manners will more surely overthrow the liberties of America than the whole force of the common enemy.... While the people are virtuous they cannot be subdued; but once they lose their virtue, they will be ready to surrender their liberties to the first external or internal invader.... If virtue and knowledge are diffused among the people, they will never be enslaved. This will be their great security." - Samuel Adams
Young people, you really need to wake up. If we are one generation away from losing our freedoms, and nobody is aware of what is required to preserve our freedoms, then who will preserve them? You will be screwed over by the very people for whom you put your faith and trust in. Those taking away your freedoms are adversarial to God and the ideas of true liberty, and are doing all they can to keep you ignorant, while taking away your liberties one by one in the name of giving you more. Once they have everything they need from you, they will no longer need your support. When they no longer need your support, their true nature will be revealed. You will fall completely under their control. If you are under their control, then you will become a slave to the state, and if memory serves correctly, godless, selfish, corrupt and evil people not only do not regard other people’s liberties, but trample over them in pursuit of stealing them all for themselves, will in turn use them against you. This initiates complete and total control. They have no moral regard for you, your God-given liberties, or what you have produced for yourself using your skills and talents. They want to take everything from you, distribute it amongst themselves and those loyal to their evil causes, and control every aspect of your life.
Learning is a concept that has never really been popular with youth. Tyrants in the government know this very well and are capitalizing off of it. If you stay soft in principle and lazy in action, you are no match against a government official who is not only protected by the laws made by the very people the ignorant people elected, but they are also protected with the weaponry that you provided them as well. At the time of this writing, you still remain the bosses of them. They have no control over you unless you give them the power to have control over you. It’s time to grow up, step up to the plate, and keep those in Washington your servants instead of the other way around.
